Description:
This course provides students with a survey of key figures, ideas, and themes in ancient and medieval philosophy, from the Presocratics and Plato to Maimonides in Ibn Rushd. Ancient philosophers were the first to try to think for themselves without the security of religions and myths. Topics will include their theories of reality, the good life, the nature of religion and the divine, and more.
