Description:
As the introductory course in the Public Law subfield this course begins with a discussion of the techniques of case briefs and legal writing. It then considers the history, structure and process of criminal law. Students are introduced to the elements of criminal liability [notably Actus Reus and Mens rea] and defenses to criminal liability [notably justification and excuse].
