Description:
Provides a detailed examination of selected events, themes, and issues relevant to the history of the United States from the late nineteenth through the twentieth century. Possible topics include, but are not limited to, the growth of an increasingly activist federal government, the vicissitudes of U.S. foreign policy and international influence, the ongoing movement for civil rights, and the evolution and importance of U.S. popular culture. Students who take the course for upper-level credit will receive additional assignments. This course may be repeated for credit provided it covers a different topic.
